Frequently Asked Questions
1. What kind of therapy do you offer?
I provide person-centred psychotherapy and counselling for adults and young people. My approach is flexible and responsive, adapting to your individual needs. Although I specialise with working with neurodivergent clients, I also support clients experiencing a wide variety of experiences such as anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties.
2. Where do you offer therapy?
I offer face-to-face therapy in Nottingham and Derbyshire, as well as online sessions for anyone seeking the convenience of remote therapy. Both formats provide the same level of connection, support, and safe, non-judgmental space.
3. Who can benefit from therapy?
Therapy with me is for adults and young people from all backgrounds. Some clients come to work through emotional distress or major life events, while others want to better understand themselves or improve their relationships and wellbeing. Everyone is welcome, and sessions are tailored to your needs.
4. Do you offer trauma-informed therapy?
Yes. My approach is trauma-informed, meaning we work gently and collaboratively, with careful attention to your boundaries and comfort. Sessions can help you explore how your past shapes your present, reconnect with yourself, and find ways to cope and move forward that feel right for you.
5. Do you work with neurodivergent clients?
Yes. I have specialist training and experience supporting autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD clients, as well as those exploring whether they may be neurodivergent. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, focusing on understanding and self-acceptance rather than trying to change who you are! Therapy for neurodivergent adults and young people is offered in Nottingham, Derbyshire, and online.
6. How long are the sessions, and how often will we meet?
Sessions are 50 minutes long. Many clients prefer weekly sessions, while others choose fortnightly appointments. We’ll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and session frequency can be adjusted as needed.
7. How long will therapy last?
There’s no set length. Therapy can be short-term, focused on a specific concern, or open-ended, allowing for deeper exploration. We’ll regularly review your progress together to ensure therapy continues to meet your needs.
8. What can I expect from the introductory call?
The 20-minute introductory call is a relaxed opportunity to see if we might work well together. You can share what’s bringing you to therapy, your goals for therapy, ask questions, and take some time afterward to decide if it feels right. There’s no pressure, it’s simply a chance to get a sense of what therapy with me might be like!
9. How do I start therapy with you?
You can reach out via the Contact page to arrange an introductory call. During this first step, we’ll discuss your goals, your preferences for in-person or online therapy, and the best way to move forward.
